About Us - Committee

Coming from all different walks of life, the committee members of the Brookings Summer Arts Festival all have one thing in common: the desire to create the finest arts festival in the state of South Dakota.  Each year, the thirty to forty members come together to plan and design a weekend of art, food, and entertainment for the nearly eighty thousand people who attend the annual event each year.

Volunteers like Dave and Julie Huebner, who are local artists, and Dan and Michelle Kemp, SDSU math professor and retired staff person, have been active committee members for many years.  Newer members, such as Brenda Pitts and Melissa Schulte, are continuously stepping forward into leadership roles as well.  The committee evolves every year by welcoming any new volunteer who enjoys the Festival and would like to contribute.
